Visualizations

Visualization Types

The user may choose from four Visualization types.

Tree Map Visualizations

Portray hierarchical data using a set of rectangles. The largest rectangle appears in the upper left, while the smallest rectangle is positioned in the lower right. The size of the various rectangles are proportional to data size. There are two Tree Map subtypes:

  • Heat
  • Color

The table below shows how the rectangles are arranged and colored.

  Rectangle Arrangement Color Mapping
Heat All rectangles displayed in a single group. Relative to entire Tree map.
Heat with Nesting

Rectangles divided into multiple groups. Each row header is assigned a separate group.

Relative to entire Tree map.
Color All rectangles displayed in a single group. Multiple shades of a single color (for entire Tree Map).
Color with Nesting

Rectangles divided into multiple groups. Each row header is assigned a separate group.

Multiple shades of a single color (for each nested group).
Sunburst Visualizations

Portray hierarchical data in a series of concentric rings, where the highest data level appears in the center and each successive data level is positioned further from the center. There are two Sunburst subtypes:

  • Flat - Performs color grouping relative to ring level.
  • Hierarchical - Performs color grouping relative to row structure.
Word Cloud Visualizations

Employ text size/color to communicate the prominence of specific words in a database structure. There are two Word Cloud subtypes:

  • Heat - Performs color grouping relative to entire Word Cloud.
  • Color - Performs color grouping relative to entire Word Cloud (using multiple shades of a single color).
Circle Packing Visualizations

Organize data within circular structures, employing size, color and nesting to portray relationships between data groups. There are three Circle Packing subtypes:

  • Heat - Performs color grouping relative to entire Circle Mapping.
  • Color - Performs color grouping relative to entire Circle Mapping (using multiple shades of a single color).
  • Hierarchical - Performs color grouping relative to row structure (with nested circles).
